Maria
R. Fergus, CPA, CVA
Maria
was born in Mexico and raised in Northern California.
She obtained her
Bachelor
of Science Degree from San Diego State University.
Prior to moving to Fresno, she worked for Brinig & Company
in San Diego. While there she performed litigation
support services such as complex family
law calculations involving income available for support
purposes, separate asset tracings, apportionment of
community and separate property interests in real property,
application of the Pereira and Van Camp cases to separate
property businesses, and business valuations for the marital
business. She prepared business valuation reports in
relation to eminent domain, calculated economic analyses
related to damages and loss of business profits and lost
wages from personal injury, wrongful termination, wrongful
death, wrongful birth and construction defects. She
recently obtained the Certified Valuation Analysts
credential from the National Association of Certified
Valuation Analysts.
Maria is
a member of the California Society of Certified Public
Accountants, past co-Chairman of the Litigation Services
Committee (now the Litigation Consulting Services Group) in
San Diego, and past discussion leader of the Downtown
Discussion Group of the San Diego Chapter. She was
also Past President of the ELGAS Toastmaster Club in San
Diego.
Maria is
active in numerous community service organizations,
including Girl Scouts, her children's schools and through
her church as Compassionate Service Leader.
In
addition to working at Brinig & Company, Inc, in San Diego,
she also worked at Brodshatzer, Wallace, Spoon & Yip, and
later at Calderon, Jaham & Osborn where she provided audit
and review services to Not-For-Profit organizations,
performed audits in compliance with Governmental Auditing
Standards and U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB)
Circular A-133.
She is
fluent in Spanish and is pleased to be one of the newest members
of the firm.
