Jim joined the firm in 1983. Jim has numerous years of experience in taxation and accounting. His background in the fields of Agribusiness, Partnership and Real Estate accounting, Manufacturing companies, combined with his personal experience in farming, has allowed him to develop a unique understanding of the special problems facing our Valley farmers today.  Jim provides extensive consulting assistance to clients in the area of personal financial planning, which includes tax, estate, financial and retirement planning.  Jim provides advice in the areas of business sales, stock transfers, estate planning and buy-sell agreements. He also advises clients on computer system installations and marital dissolution tax issues.      

Jim was born in Fresno, California and obtained his Associate of Arts degree from Reedley College. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Western Washington State College in 1975. He holds a Certified Public Accountant certificate in the state of California.

Jim is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a member of the Farm Bureau Association.

Jim is married to Claudia Horn, an elementary school instructor. They have two children, Peter and Erica.

Much of his spare time is used to cultivate and maintain his 5 acres of Fuji, Sommerfeld, Sundowner and Pink Lady apples. He currently uses a trellising system on the apple trees first introduced in Australia. The system maximizes the square footage of the tree to be exposed to sunlight.
